The problem here isn't the number of models, rather the size.
I've built several buildings from the Worldworksgames modern range to create a town in which we play zombiegames and with the Orbital SK1 set from Stones-edges I created 3D-pieces from the game Space Hulk. I stock these in large plastic crates in my basement.
