I used to see those items in the comics I used to buy in the 60's, but
could not afford them, so I make them out of appliances cardboard and
painted everything. The one I had most fun was a tank, I made the
turret moveable. I remember a cardboard spaceship capsule that was on
display in an appliance store in my town, I think it was something by
General Electric. I know that I made something similar out of cardoard
for a science fair. I used tempera to paint all those things.
