You won't need to link. It works in following manner: 1. You import the image file in silhouette studio software (free) 2. Then usingvauto trace feature you trace cut Lines or you can manually define cut lines. 3. Then using software you choose to print registration marks (for it you will only require to select "print registration marks" checkbox. 4 then you print thebpage using software. If you have cutepdfbthen you can also print to pdf for future use. 5. After printing, load the sheet to cutter with help of cutting mat, give cut command from software (after selecting proper blade settings). The cutter will detect registration marks & cut correctly the design.
You can also cut any svg files but you will need to convert it to dxf format using inkscape. The software is free and you will get hundreds of cut shapes on their online store. Each week they give one free cut shape on tuesday. You can dowload the software & play aroundbit till you get the machine. I hope I was able to give clear instructions :) Aditya Gupta Sent from Samsung Galaxy NoteMike Hungerford <[email protected]> wrote:Thank you! I have an 11x17 inch printer, but I'm not entirely clear on how the print & cut feature works. I found the quick start guide and the software manual, but the full manual seems to be something you can't download. Do I understand correctly that you "link" the printer and cutter via the software so that the cutter knows what and where to cut? I saw something also about the cutter being able to scan the printed sheet to find the outlines to cut; how does that work for you? The only problem i faced is that most of the free paper model templates are not ready for its print & cut feature so you will need to do it yourself but once the cut file is ready it works as charm. Also you can cut paper upto 12x24 inch size, so if you have a3 printer then you can make really big models. Reviews have mostly been positive, and it's about 1/4 the cost of a CraftROBO Pro. I haven't seen any reviews of the thing here that I can recall. Does anyone here have, or has anyone here used one? http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/?page=shop&cat=1 -- Mike Hungerford http://www.chthulhu.com/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Papermodels II" group.
