I've done some testing and the files should open in Reader X, but they're not opening in Reader XI. This is likely due to the compatibility settings used when making the PDF file. If they're set to be compatible with Adobe Reader 5 and above, they won't open. If they're set to open in Adobe Reader 8 or better, no problem. As I mentioned before, you can find other PDF readers for the Mac - including the built-in Preview program - and use them to open these files. You really don't need to go to the trouble of using Windows - if you download the Windows version of Adobe Reader XI, you'll STILL not be able to open the documents.
