I grabbed this model from ecardmodels a few days ago for 8 bucks. Not a
bad model all round with a few exceptions, notably it has a complete
lack of fold lines. This wouldn't be a big problem normally however this
model has fairly low end graphics which makes it difficult to determine
just where the folds are supposed to be.
Usually the tabs can be used as a guide to where the folds need to be
made but some parts have the tabs on only one side so measuring the
other side is the only way to do this. Apart from this the only other
thing was some round parts, such as the front sight to name one, are
marked adventurously meaning some experimental adjustment is required.
Having now dispensed with the less than desirable aspects of the kit we
can now move on to the good bits. Fit is good, apart from the previously
mentioned things, and everything else matches up well. I compared the
measurements of the model to the original specs and this finished model
seems to be a little small, for instance it is about 75mm short in
length and also the same amount proportionally for the other dimensions
but maybe this could be down to the print size, I didn't think about
this until I’d finished. I know that Adobe prints smaller than the Linux
.pdf reader and I did this with Adobe...such is life.
The main problem with the lack of fold lines is that any errors are
cumulative and come back to bite when assembling sections that are done
as sub assemblies.
Other than that not a bad model and probably worth the money since there
doesn't seem to be much around in card of this weapon.
Now that it's finished I can run around with it on Christmas day when
the family are here and make machine gun noises and say things like "You
dirty rat"....oh what fun !!!!!
