Hi Everyone!

I've been posting about this problem on several elists, and have
decided to send this response to all of the people who have offered
some help. I hope it answers some of your questions.

First of all, he does not have a drug history - not even alcohol.
Likewise, until recently, there really isn't any evidence of what
would be called a "mental illness." It's the suddenness of it that
makes me think it's a possession.

Even now, he maintains a job, and his episodes do not occur while he
is at work. I think if he had a mental illness, some of his
coworkers would have notice something. His job requires him to
undergo rigorous physical and psychiatric testing at least once a
year (sometimes more often), and he's always passed that with flying
colors.

When he is in his "right mind," he has no fear of women or scarves.
If anything, he has been a very active proponent of women's rights
(that's how we met). He is also fond of dancing, and he did say
something that now gives me chills - He said he gets so much
enjoyment out of dance, that he feels sorry for those who have passed
on - not having bodies to experience the feeling. Therefore, he said
he was willing to let someone "borrow his body" while he danced, as a
way of sharing the joy.

As far as an intervention goes, he has no immediate family. I was
probably the closest friend he had. I'm not sure that I can take him
on alone, especially since I'm not sure what the problem really is.
Ideally, I would like to find a group of people who live nearby, and
who know what they are doing, to perform the intervention. If I talk
to him at the right moment, he might even be open to it.

If this is a possession, it seems to me that the entity - with its
obsession with women and headscarves - is awfully stupid. But yet,
it's clever enough to remain hidden at the right moments.

Thanks again, for your kindness and your help.

Leslie
