I have been to Centralia and it is a really eerie place to visit and nothing
more. It is like visiting a ghost town. We walked down to where the some
of the major fires were burning---you do so at your own risk of course. You
never see anything much except all this smoke coming out of the ground. We
were all over the place. There are still a few families that refuse to leave.

I would've hightailed it out of there way back. I am not scientific when it
comes to Centralia so I don't know anything about your BOMB theory. Sounds
kind of strange to me and I think if things were that bad there someone would
be doing something----some of those mines extend so deep and so far I am not
sure how they would be monitored.

Anyway, anyone in PA that would like a good and interesting car trip---don't
expect restaurants and a tourist booth----go to Centralia just for the the
pure fascination of watching how man can start chain reactions that have
ramifications that may never be put out. It has destroyed a town, their
livilhood, the surrounding woodlands and is seething underneath your feet when
you
walk there. It is all at your own risk. We were there several years ago so
it
is hard to tell what is happening now.

Becky
