You seem to have OpenGL. However, the fact that glxgears is not showing anything either is making me think that you OpenGL drivers are not working properly. I don't have a lot of experience on Linux OpenGL drivers, other than nVidia ones. Unless someone else here has an answer, you will have to go to a Linux/X11/OpenGL related mailing list. You can also try updating your Linux distribution or installing another one...
