Also, volume rendering has been greatly improved in the ParaView trunk which 
will be released as ParaView 3.6 RSN (Real Soon Now).  ParaView 3.4.0 had some 
pretty bad volume rendering issues.

Make sure that you are doing remote rendering. Go to Edit|Settings. The on the 
Render View | Server sub option, ensure that "Remote Render Threshold" is 
checked and move the slide to the left i.e. 0.
