Hey Natalie,
I can reproduce this with PV 3.6.1, but it works fine in CVS now. I
think it's been fixed because of all the recent work on the XDMF
libraries.
It used to be that the vtkXdmfReader defaulted to the first data frame
(time step) if it was ever asked for a time step which didn't really
exist. (This is in contrast to something like the PVD reader which
would default to the previous valid time step.) I'm guessing that this
is why the Real Time and Sequence don't work right with 3.6.1 --
they're asking for non-existing time steps and being given time step 0.
As a workaround, place a "Temporal Snap-to-Time-step filter after your
XDMF reader in the pipeline, and set it to NextBelowOrEqual and things
should work right.
Talk to you later,
-Eric

You load the dataset, select the animation view and put it to real
time, and when playing, the images are not rendered, so you just see
the first frame over the whol e animation.
When I get back to work, I can zip a timeseries and mail it to you,
if you want

This should work with any reader that supports time. I don’t know
of any reason why it should not work with xdmf, but I don’t have an
example xdmf dataset that has time. Could you describe the
erroneous behavior?

Hi!
This works very well for time series with vtk-files, but not for
time series with xdmf-files ..
I guess, there is no other option, is there?

Yes. Switch animation mode to Real Time and set the total time you
want it to last.
