I do not know if there is any way to create an OpenGL context on a GPU without first connecting to an X server. (I prefer to remain blissfully unaware of such details.) Regardless, I am quite sure that VTK does not support creating such a connection (yet).

Is it possible to create an offscreen buffer for each pvserver without the X server. We'd like to share one GPU between 4 cores, but without starting X. Can either OpenGL or Mesa (but using GPU not software) be told to do this. **** Kenneth Moreland *** Sandia National Laboratories *********** *** *** *** email: [email protected] ** *** ** phone: (505) 844-8919 *** web: http://www.cs.unm.edu/~kmorel
