Turning PARAVIEW_INSTALL_THIRD_PARTY_LIBRARIES to OFF fixes my install issue. Thanks for the tip.
btw, is there any reason the hdf5 libs get installed in /fullpath/lib instead of /fullpath/lib/paraview-3.9? There are the only libs being installed one level up (from the rest).
