You are on the right track. Any proxy registered in the "filters" group from the plugins will automatically end up in the "Filters" menu, there's no way around it. The solution would be create a new group for your filters that's being shown in your menu. Theoretically, it should work, but I don't think we test it, but definitely worth a try.
