Setting opacity less than 1 on a ParaView source (cylinder) does not
change the problem.

Ensure that your "Remote Rendering Threshold" is checked and set
to 0. The Remote Rendering Threshold can be accessed from the
"Edit |Settings" Dialog on the Render View | Server page.

As you suggested, I installed 3.98 on the wall display
with qt-4.8.3 and openmpi-1.4.3.
First of all, I would like to thank you about the latest
beta release of paraview 3.98.
It works quite fine and seems faster than older releases.
The good news is that 3.98 does'nt crash as 3.14.1 do.
However, with 3.98, as soon as opacity is less than 1,
the image is not complete on the wall (see attached files).
Image-1 : image is complete on the wall when opacity=1
Image-2 : image is cut on the wall when opacity < 1
Image-3 : image as it should be seen on the wall if opacity<1
