If you are just looking for a simple ASCII format, you can use one of the basic
VTK file formats. They are easy to read and write, and their documentation is
here (as well as in the VTK Users Guide):

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [Paraview] Deforming 2d geometry

Hi all. I want to know what file formats supported by paraview allows to
describe deforming 2d geometry.
Thanks in advance.

P.s. In ParaView Tutorial I found .ex2 format but it's a bit complicated and
binary. It would be great if proposed file formats won't be binary
