the solution seems to be elsewhere...
The variables that get propagated to ParaView don't have necessarily the
same names. (I've listed the ones that are not using the same name)
-DMPI_CXX_LIBRARIES:STRING=${PV_MPI_CXX_LIBRARIES}
-DMPI_C_LIBRARIES:STRING=${PV_MPI_C_LIBRARIES}
-DMPI_EXTRA_LIBRARY:STRING=${PV_MPI_EXTRA_LIBRARY}
-DMPI_LIBRARY:FILEPATH=${PV_MPI_LIBRARY}
Therefore you may need to duplicate some values and use PV_XXX as key.
Not sure that's intended, but I tried to set
-DPV_MPI_CXX_LIBRARIES:STRING="a b c d"
and it properly get pushed to the ParaView CMakeCache.txt.
