I am not sure what you mean by volumetric slice. Does it mean multiple slices parallel to the one slice you have in your image? If so, the "Slice" filter does allow specifying additional offsets to slice. Switch the Properties panel to show advanced properties ( http://www.kitware.com/blog/home/post/491) or search for "offset" in the "search box" at the top of the Properties panel. Now you can add offsets around the default slice.
