Dear Michael, Even though this doesn't exist, it would be relatively easy to add. This would be through this reader:
http://www.vtk.org/doc/nightly/html/classvtkPlot3DMetaReader.html I suggest that you create a feature request on the VTK issue tracker: https://gitlab.kitware.com/vtk/vtk/issues Hopefully, someone will pick it up during the next VTK or ParaView hackathon.
