Hey everybody,

The Perl Foundation is one of the mentor organisations at Google's Summer of Code (GSoC) this year [1]. Students have until April 3 to find a project and mentor, and to write up a project proposal on which - if accepted - they will work from mid-May to mid-August. Since that's not a lot of time to find out about all the projects on offer, I've put up a short page on the Trac wiki [2] linking to our most important online resources, aimed at students trying to get a quick idea about what Parrot is, what's being worked on, and how they can contribute through this programme. I think Parrot has a chance to attract a wholly new group of languagesmiths and virtual machine geeks into the Perl community, especially as Perl 5 knowledge isn't necessary to work on it, and I'd love to see a bigger fuss made about it at the GSoC.

My understanding of where Parrot is at the moment is pretty vague, though, so please let me know - or edit yourselves - any mistakes, missing or unnecessary information on that page. I'd like to link to this page from TPF's GSoC projects page [3], as there's much more space here to go into greater detail on project ideas and mentor interests. Being able to link directly to Trac tickets or the roadmap might be helpful too.

cheers,
Gaurav
