Andy, It's not just fetch_integer which might get hit by a 4byte
alignment.
It is every PF_fetch_* function, since we guarantee only 4-byte alignment
when writing 32bit pbc's. Even if it works on sparc64 on the tested pbc's
I would not feel safe without changing all fetchers.
But it's definitely worth a good test.
