is at least five years old now.
Parrot builds fine with gcc-3.4.6 as supplied by the current Debian stable
("lenny"). I have also used 3.4.x on SPARC/Solaris. In all cases I have
tried, Configure.pl correctly tests -fvisibility=hidden and correctly
deduces that it doesn't work.
I strongly suspect that the original report was in error, and barring
additional supporting evidence from the original poster, this ticket
should simply be closed as "rejected".
