In branch nwellnhof/string_unescape I changed Parrot_str_unescape to call
Parrot_str_unescape_string internally and adjusted the IMCC code.
AFAICS, the old unescaping code was only used for encoding:charset:"" type
literals which are deprecated now. See TT #1808.
