We just recently fixed a problem with libparted destroying Vista NTFS partitions that start at the beginning of the drive. That fix is in Fedora (will be in Fedora 7) and to my knowledge is included in Debian testing or unstable right now (Otavio?). For us to offer any support for non-Linux filesystems at the create/destroy/move level, we first need to revamp our underlying filesystem code. We have this in the plan for parted 2.x.
