I've been told on numerous occassions by various company lawyers that copyright years must be explicitly listed. Ranges are not valid. Also, it's in the GNU maintainer's guide: http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/maintain.html#Copyright-Notices Jim, the patches look good to me, btw.
