Hi: Recently we found a problem in using the parted programme in our device, the remote store server is iSCSI ,while can be set the sector size for 4096 ,But on the device we use the parted programme to make part for harddisk(actually is the remote hardisk in iSCSI server) it give the follow warning: Warning: Device /dev/isda has a logical sector size of 4096. Not all parts of GNU Parted support this at the moment and the partition process can't execute, my parted version is 1.8.8 How to solve the problem ? We get the newest version 1.9.0 also the same result But if we set the sector size is (512 , 1024 , 2048 ) ,the partition process can be successful. Help! please

Mail to [email protected] doesn't seem to show up in archives) Hello, I'm using FAI to automatically install machines. I'm getting the above parted error in the following situation. FAI is run in a Xen domU calling parted on a LVM volume. I also get this error when parted is called on a iscsi lun. In both cases the lun is given to the virtual machine as a the device '/dev/sda'. I have this problem with versions 1.8.8.git.2008.03.24-11.1 and 1.9.0. (Please, notice the -s option) r...@shibidp1:/# parted -s /dev/sda unit TiB print Error: Error initialising SCSI device /dev/sda - Invalid argument (Please, notice that the -s option is not given) r...@shibidp1:/# parted /dev/sda unit TiB print Error: Error initialising SCSI device /dev/sda - Invalid argument Ignore/Cancel? I Model: (null) (scsi) Disk /dev/sda: 0.01TiB Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B Partition Table: msdos Number Start End Size Type File system Flags 1 0.00TiB 0.01TiB 0.01TiB primary boot 2 0.01TiB 0.01TiB 0.00TiB primary If I then quiet parted I get *** glibc detected *** parted: double free or corruption (out): 0x00007efff7afcab0 *** That is then only with parted 1.8.8.git.2008.03.24-11.1. So to conclude: 1) In my case, doing things with -s enabled doesn't work (either versions) 2) I get ' double free or corruption ' in the Debian Stable version. All help would be appreciated as this is blocking the installation of virtual machines.
