After about 7.5 days, my testing of the proposed patch for parted-1.9.0
is complete. The patch permitted my test script to successfully
complete all 99,999 iterations. :-)
This patch appears to significantly reduce the chance of experiencing
the "failure to inform kernel of partition changes" problem that happens
with newer GNU/Linux distributions, udev, and parted.

Now some questions for the upstream maintainers of parted:
1) Is this patch something you would consider for inclusion in parted?
2) If yes, would you like me to re-base the patch to a specific branch
in the git repository?
3) If no, is there a different approach you might suggest to address
this problem?
