It's the --batch option, but it's needed only if you have a gpg-agent running. I sent a patch on August 12th, 2013 (which went unnoticed it seems, but being new to the list at the time, I didn't dare insist on it) that selects gpg by default, selects gpg2 if it is available, and uses the --batch option only if a gpg-agent is present. This allows me to use pass on my N900, which has no agent support (and no gpg2).
