That is best practice for Mailman, yes.

Note that there have been a number of security enhancements that have recently 
been made to Mailman, so it would be a good idea to update, if you haven’t done 
that already.  See the recent announcement from Mark Sapiro regarding Mailman 
2.1.21 at

However, independent of that, if you’re accessing the wifi at Starbucks, I sure 
hope you’re using a VPN for all your traffic.
