Global semi sales fall 0.5% to $18 billion in June
Sales of semiconductors (three-month running average) declined slightly in June to $18.0 billion, a sequential fall of 0.5% from the $18.1 billion reported in May, according to the latest World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS).

Infineon hit by the DRAM wars
German chip maker Infineon has fallen three positions in market analyst IC Insight's ranking of leading semiconductor companies for the first half of 2005. Intel remains by far the largest company while Freescale, which ranked 11th in the fullyear 2004 listing, has entered the top ten, moving into ninth position in 1H05.

Sematech develops pore-sealing for 45nm low-k
Engineers from US research consortium Sematech have developed an innovative poresealing technique that appears to prevent metal and precursor penetration into low-k dielectric materials, easing the introduction of low-k at the 45nm technology node.

NOR market forecast to decline by 15% in 2005
Sales of NOR flash memory could fall below NAND flash sales for the first time in 2005, according to the latest forecast from Semico Research.

EDA industry suffers dissapointing start to 2005
The electronic design automation (EDA) industry recorded revenues of $989 million for Q1 of 2005 compared with $995 million for the same period in 2004.
