Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: Library (Lib) Group: Python 2.5 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Witten (herrwitten) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: tarfile append behavior Initial Comment: The builtin file object has the following behavior for the appending ('a') mode: 'The file will be created if it doesn't exist when opened for writing or appending' Currently, the file must already exist and it must not be an empty file. This patch achieves the file object's behavior with a small one-line addition. If this patch be used, please add a reference to 'herrwitten' in the log. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=305470&aid=1652681&group_id=5470 _______________________________________________ Patches mailing list Patches@python.org http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/patches
