Our client is looking for an AIX system administrator responsible for the
administration and maintenance of IBM pSeries hardware, the operating
system and related subsystems. This person must have polished customer
service skills as well as technical depth and experience in a fast-paced
environment.  Clear communication, professionalism, issue ownership,
follow-up, commitment and attention to detail are mandatory.  The duties
include resolving hardware and software related issues, connectivity
problems, generalized technical support and troubleshooting, tuning for
systems issues and performance and escalation to other technology support
departments where appropriate.  Core support hours for this group are
weekdays from 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM, although this position will participate in
24x7 support on a rotating basis.



*Duties and Functions*

   - Installation, management and support of IBM pSeries, PowerVM and VIO
   hardware
   - Perform operating system installation, configuration and administration
   - Perform performance tuning and capacity planning
   - Planning and installation of firmware and software patches
   - Investigate, diagnose and effect repair for reported issues
   - Assist in the support and integration of third party infrastructure
   software products (security, messaging, monitoring, etc.)
   - Coordinates with systems managers and vendors to resolve complex
   malfunctions
   - Research innovative SW and HW solutions to improve management and
   maintenance of the environment
   - Monitor system alerts and/or problem reports to identify any
   systematic patterns which may require action
   - Maintains hardware inventories and software licensing counts for AIX
   systems
   - Adhere to all operational processes (Change, Incident, Problem, etc.)
   - Participate in planned disaster recovery testing activities
   - Participate in 24x7 on call support rotation
