*GENERAL INFORMATION:* Title: Network and Firewall Engineer Location: Grand Rapids, MI Job type: Contract to hire Duration: 6 months on contract on C2C and then fulltime hire by the client on W2 Rate: $50/hr on C2C - negotiable Interviews: Phone and/or skype Priority: Very High Visa: Open Level: Senior *MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE*: Network Engineer, Firewall, wireless, controllers, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA equipment, VLAN, VPN, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, and Microsoft AD *Position Summary:* The Network/Firewall Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the design, installation, configuration and maintenance of large-scale enterprise network infrastructure. Responsibilities will also include assisting in the maintenance of existing network infrastructure in corporate service centers and D/R site. *REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: * 1. B.A. or B.S. in a technical field or a relevant combination of education and experience. 2. 5+ years of expertise in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including: firewalls, wireless access points and controllers, VPN, and monitoring applications. 3. Expert understanding of firewall configuration and maintenance, experience with Palo Alto and Cisco ASA equipment preferred. 4. Familiar with configuration, installation, troubleshooting, and supporting of Network equipment. 5. Ability to document and explain network topologies, understand and diagram existing network diagrams, explain and plan for future growth. 6. Expert with VLANs and working within industry best practices. 7. Ability to engineer, build, and test networks for optimum throughput and reliability. 8. DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, and Microsoft AD), and possess an understanding of how to support these applications / protocols when accessed through VPN and firewall appliances. 9. Understanding and implementation of network traffic analysis, remote access methods and systems, encryption, authentication and authorization technology. 10. Hands-on technical experience working with VPN technologies. 11. Strong oral, written, communication, and presentation skills. *Responsibilities and Essential Duties:* 1. Install, support and maintain hardware and software infrastructure according to best practices, including firewalls, monitoring devices, etc. 2. Perform network security design and integration. Diagnose problems and solve issues, often under time constraints. 3. Provide network and host based security, incident response, firewall and VPN management and administration. 4. Implement the necessary controls and procedures to protect information technology assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, or destruction. 5. Assist in the development of guidelines and procedures for administration and security best practices. 6. Provide network documentation. 7. Monitor network usage, anticipate problems and suggest solutions. 8. Work closely with team members to meet team goals and improve processes and practices. 9.
