I've had the same question for some time. So I did the next best thing. When my Win7 RC expired and started shutting down every two hours, I installed OSX Snow Leopard on my Dell 13" Inspiron. It's not a perfect match, but it works surprisingly well and I get the flavor of using a Mac without the "Apple tax."
I get on surprisingly well with OSX since most of the tools I need run natively (it *is* UNIX after all). Plus I have the convenience of being able to manage the system via a GUI. Because I went the Hackintosh route, I was forced to learn quite about of the low level inner workings of the OS. It's not Linux (obviously) but it has an elegant internal consistency that grows on you. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get my wife to take the Inspiron as a hand-me-down so I can get a MacBook Pro.
