Jim, I would take a look at the Technet subscriptions. They are a good chunk of money, but if you are seriously testing stuff it would be worth it.
They have two subscription types: Standard and Professional. The Standard doesn't include server products, application servers, etc...only the Professional has that if you will be looking to "lab up" an entire infrastructure.
