Sure, CyanogenMod is upgradable. You do that in Rom Manager. It works well for minor upgrades. Major upgrades work much like the initial process except that you boot to recovery and use the tools there. Basic process is to wipe all your caches and then flash the zip file that you loaded on the card. Takes about 10 minutes.
