This is one of the questions I'm sure concerned Pan Africanists must be asking themselves. I don't want to say PAC members on purpose, because nowadays PAC membership has largely dependent on the side of the fence that one is on, and quite frankly, it has become a tool and worthless quantification measure. Notwithstanding, the question above merits consideration to all right thinking individuals. In recent times we came to know of two PAC's, though others tended to igonore glaring reality, but people (the masses) whom PAC wished to liberate and serve, also came to know of this phenomena. Whenever, one would wish to make a statement or take action for the cause, you would be asked which PAC are you talking about or you belong to? This was by far one of the most embarrassing if not degrading queries in the life, trial and tribulations of the movement. The emergence of the second PAC followed the Bloem conference, consisting mainly of anti-Mphahlele dissidents. One would have thought that this group had other means other than the court battle to relocate the PAC a step closer to where it is supposed to be. Parallel to a court battle, one expected a more political programme by this group, that would be distinct in form and content, from the other group's mouds operandi. It became more apprent that these groups were identical when the the Bloem coference became elective, and produced the "real" PAC and leadership. If these people were serious in setting themselves from the rest, they ought not to have elected a structure akin to that which letlapa is heading. This signaled absence of any political programme to fight for the soul of the PAC from within. Their departure after an unsuccessful court battle, and later formation of PAM, was a culmination of this fact. In fact, it were smacks of careerism and opportunism, some critics say.
Nonetheless, one other question that is mind-baffling is How does a person sleep at night knowing that in less than 18 months his leadership has produced TWO splinter organisations, diametrically opposed to his leadership (or lack thereof) style? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Groups "Pan Africanist Youth Congress of Azania" group.
