The year 2008 has been a challenging one for us and our motherbody - PAC. We
begin the year with the intention to implement our programme of action as
mandated by the last congress and the first NEC shortly thereafter. A number of
challenges internally deflated our attention. The one issue that preoccupied us
was the issue of complete failure of leadership in the party. PAYCO as a
structure also became affected with some divisions emerging around this issue
however we can safely say that those divisions by and large are a thing of the
past now. We have now found common ground with most of the dissenting
structures following the revealing Fort Hare farce.

We remain committed to a strong revolutionary leadership to build a
revolutionary party and carry out the revolutionary tasks of the PAC. Those at
the helm of party leadership continue to tread on a treacherous path of
opportunism, careerism and party destruction. We have managed to unmask this
counter revolutionary agenda and its players although a few party members
remain unsuspecting of the motives of counter revolutionary forces in the
party. The youth must stand firm on principles. We must defend the party line.
We must be the vanguard and not succumb to counter revolutionary forces and
tendencies. We must die unbending and standing firmly on the party line.

The PAC is our heritage, our life, our pride, a revolutionary party of the
African people. If we fail to defend this party history will judge us harshly.
As we defend the party, counter revolutionary forces of Letlapa Mphahlele will
not take it lying down. Evidence of counter revolution is being presented to us
all the time through destructive acts and utterances of counter revolutionary
forces but there is no evidence why these forces have chosen the path of
counter revolution. The jury is still out. Although we would like to discover
why the PAC is being sold out…our main objective is to defeat counter
revolution, restoration and triumph of the revolutionary agenda of the PAC as
we know it. Comrades my point is that the war against counter revolution in the
party is not over.

The NWC has recommended that as a matter of principle we must not participate
in the 2009 Elections. The NEC will make a final decision on this matter. We
must resolve never to support opportunism and careerism. If the youth cannot
demand and defend ideological and revolutionary clarity and discipline in party
programmes and policies the PAC shall become a full blown Heaven of careerists.
It shall mean anything to all and therefore nothing. When we are repeatedly
told that PAC targets to get 20% of the electoral vote, without a mass
mobilization political programme and canvassed policy positions in advance of
2009 elections, the assertion “sick in the head” of those who makes such
projections comes to mind.

For us the logic is simple: no revolutionary leadership - no revolutionary
party - no revolutionary programme - no revolutionary policy - no elections. We
participate in elections to test popular support for our programmes and
policies and to seek mandate to represent such programmes and policies in
government in service of the people. Without programmes and policies we cannot
just rock up on an election platform because we have not pragmatically
projected ourselves as an identifiable choice with a set of ideological
doctrine. Electioneering without current mass work programmes and campaigns is
reactionary and opportunistic.

This year 2008 we have also witnessed the formation of PAM after many years of
hesitation by those who have always desired to leave the PAC and form their own
party. All of us joined the party voluntarily and therefore those who have left
to form PAM, just like those who left to form the APC, are free to do so. There
is no ideological and political merit to the formation of these adventures. We
paint PAM with the same brush as the APC. PAM as it is currently constituted is
not the same as PAM as we know it in the PAC historically.

The biggest challenge for PAM is to advance its policies and programmes to
further its cause…if it has a cause at all. PAC is not the ruling party; it is
not responsible for the neo-colonial policies which are sustaining the settler
colonial and imperialist system responsible for the oppression, exploitation
and degradation of the African people. It is therefore very clear to us that
PAM cannot play the role of a PAC opposition. PAM must tackle the system if it
thinks it is a political force of change. Our humble advice to those who have
found a new political home for themselves in PAM is to stop their criticism of
the PAC. Pursue your aims.

We no longer have APC members on this discussion forum and soon we will no
longer have PAM members here. This discussion forum is for frank, constructive,
robust and sometimes if warranted crude engagement amongst PAC members,
supporters and sympathizers, in particular the youth.

We have also noted the emergence of COPE and it is with regrets that some
members of the party are carried away by COPE momentum. One thing for sure COPE
is the staunchest of the Chaterist forces although there is a concerted effort
to project it in charismatic ‘social democrats’ al beit neo liberal formations
style. Any one who actually leaves the PAC to join a Chaterist faction needs to
ask themselves if they were ever pan Africanist ideological converts. At least
you could be forgiven for being lured to APC or PAM under a false consciousness
that the two adventures represent ‘real’ pan Africanism and potent
organisations to advance the cause. The only good thing about COPE is that it
is precipitating the break up of the ANC into pieces and therefore making our
job much easier. In the long run COPE itself will not enjoy the same dominance
and fame as the ANC.

The unholy alliance of staunch Anti-Mkekites that makes up the leadership of
the ANC will face further heightened contradictions within itself generally and
with its disingenuous alliance partners who think they can use ANC to advance
what they fail to advance through their own organisations. The political
landscape will be altered and the vacancy in the left will remain open hence
the PAC must reposition itself to fill the vacuum and it is for this reason
that we must defend our party from being turned into a counter revolutionary
force or at worst killed literally.

Of late the Arch Bishop of the church of England Desmond Tutu has been opening
his foul mouth again … this time mouthing war slogans against Zimbabwe. As the
Arch Bishop of a Church of England more like a slave to his master he has to
join the chorus of anti-African independence in defence of neo-colonialism.
This bloodthirstiness behaviour by the chief priest reinforces founded
perceptions that in fact, in the main, imperialist churches further the
interests of imperialism because how can a Christian abiding priest call for
blood spilling?

SADC has made a ruling and we fail to see why ZANU PF and in particular the
democratically elected President Mugabe should be condemned for everything that
happens in Zimbabwe. The MDC have decided that they will not listen to SADC but
to the US and the EU. We must fight alongside ZANU PF and President Mugabe. He
is a victim of the same imperialist campaign waged against Lumumba, Nkrumah,
Obote, Malcolm X, Sobukwe, Biko, Mothopeng, Castro, Mao, Gadaffi and many
revolutionaries.

As we draw closer to the end of the year 2008 we wish you a happy and peaceful
rest during the festive holidays. We look forward to your renewed contribution,
in service of African people, in 2009 and many more years to come.

For a Revolutionary Party
