It is with sadness that I learned of the untimely departure/death of
Cameron Tabane.Cde "Tabaresh"as he was fondly referred to at Bloemfontein
Vista campus where he was the SRC President was an organic intellectual.
He was instrumental in the formation of what was then referred to as the
Presidential Council, a statutory student body that was led by PASMA in
the entire 8 campuses of Vista. He also played a pivotal role in the
formation of Pasma and contributed immensely in the political life of both
PAYCO and by extension the PAC.. That he later defected to join the ruling
party is neither here nor there.

The reality is that the world is poorer without this giant of the African
revolution. A comrade was telling me that cde Tabaresh looked very healthy
and happy recently at the funeral of the wife of cde Thami ka Plaatjie.
That he did not complete the course for which the Pan Africanist Congress
was established for, is unfortunate given his immense ptential in
leadershi ranks.

Despite his defection, I will remain eternally grateful to God for having
allowed me [and I think I am speaking for other Pan Africanists] to have
shared a bit of my life with the late Tabaresh.

Rest in peace son of the soil.

Shalom
Sello Mampane
