Revolutionary Greetings moAfrika Jack!!!

Son of the soil, your concern on lack of ideological cohesion and
understanding in the party is shared by PAYCO leadership and membership as
a whole. Lets indicate from the word go that we subscribe to Pan
Africanism as expoused by Kwame Nkrumah, Lumumba and Sobukwe. We strongly
believe that the PAC needs ideologically grounded Pan Africanist to be
able to acheive its objectives as a revolutionary Pan Africanist movement.

Ideoligical Clarity

Your call for ideological clarity is so critical at this juncture as we
make efforts to rebuild and reposition our party. All efforts to revive
the party must be founded and grounded on Pan Africanism. Pan Africanism
is our compass and guiding philosophy, therefore must inform all our
efforts step by step. Having said that I also strongly believe that we
should understand Pan Africanism from its universal concept and understand
its key objects. We need to understand Pan Africanism beyond PAC and
Sobukwe. We also need to practicalise Pan Africanism, let it provide
practical solutions to the day to day crisis of our people. The core
objective of Pan Africanism is to liberate Africa and African people from
colonialism,imperialism,neo-colonialism,degradation,exploitation and all
kinds of oppression. It is therefore extremely important for all party
members to be educated on Pan Africanism broadly, from its historical
context to post independence struggles. We should utilise this platform
and many others to educate each other on ideology. Lets also engage each
other in a robust manner where we disagree on ideological matters to be
able to converge our ideas assisted by our ideological standing. For
startes it is key to read Africa Must unite by Kwame Nkrumah. I will also
recommend to all Pan Africanist to subscribe to New African for a Pan
Africanist perspective on current political and social issues.

Sentimentalism
I think it is of critical importance and for the good of our party to
discourage sentimentalism and fundamentalism from party members. We should
regard our leaders including Sobukwe as people who had a contribution to
make in our revolution and had ideas to offer which was relevent to the
time and period they lived in,but we should dare not use them and their
ideas to blackmail and block new ideas. We should discourage comrades who
are stucked on 1959 politics and have never moved, from pulling all of us
to the same ditch. We should build on ideas and successess made by our
founding fathers. I continue to reject the tendency to heroworship
individual leaders over and above the party. The tendency by some amongst
us to create an impression that they have made more contribution than
others must be discouraged as it is unrevolutionary. We should all learn
to humble ourselves to our Pan Africanist cause. There is no one who is a
better member or who loves PAC better than the rest of us,all of us have a
contribution to make in the revolution.

Socialist Line
We should not be ashamed to be socialist and to proclaim scientific
socialism in the PAC. The PAC is a socialist party and its founding
fathers were socialist too. The PAC on its founding documents including
the Basic Document and the Constitution adopted socialism as its
socio-economic solution to the social and economic difficulties facing the
masses of our people. Socialism is not alien in the PAC and should not
be treated as such.

It is unfortunate that for the past decade PAC has shunned socialism and
created an impression that socialism is the enermy of our revolutionary
party. Anyone who is opposed to socialism cannot be a member of the PAC as
socialism is established and entrenched in the party's founding
objectives.

Pan Africanism is not opposed to socialism, infact Pan Africanist leaders
adopted socialism as the only viable solution to Africa's economic and
social problems.

I also recommend the following books:
1.. African socialism or socialist Africa by Dr A. Babu
2.. Class struggle in Africa by Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah
3.. The struggle continues by Kwame Nkrumah
4.. Conakry Years by Kwame Nkrumah
Nkrumah is thee authority on the relevance of socialism to Pan Africanism,
and on the relationship between Pan Africanism and socialism.

Convention

We cannot afford not to hold the National Convention, but I agree with you
that we need to address the ideological differences. I propose that we
find a creative way of addressing this important aspect within the
convention. I also understand that there would be continous engagements
and workshops leading to the Convention therefore we should utilize those
structures to ensure ideological harmony and unity. I propose that a
detailed paper on Pan africanism and its relevance be crafted to start
debates and intellectual discourses within the party. I think it is not
feasible to have an ideological conference at this juncture as we approach
the Convention, Policy Conference and Congress, but we can create creative
ways to attend to this key aspect of party building before or at
Convention itself.

Part of the things we expect the convention to deal with are:
1) matters of Ideology,
(2)to proclaim and accept socialism and
(3)to adopt a revolutionary programme of action.
PAC must be ready to govern NOW.

Conclusion
PAYCO appreciates your conviction on Pan Africanism and your approval of
our actions and programmes. We appreciate as well your initiatives to
conduct political classes, that task is key and fundamental to all of us.
We expect suggestions from you and many party veterans on the creative
ways of achieving Ideological oneness.

Yours in socialist revolution.
