Ma-Afrika That we are not engaged in these kind of ideological polemics in sheer idleness but because of the more pressing challenges of understanding our situation and how best to intervene as the party to be able to attain our long term political objectives, can I, then, urge "hbunyonyo", to not just send arbitrarily selected extracts for points he cannot even begin to argue. These are polemics and not self-evident truths.I expected him to engage and argue his points in the same way that others like me had done. I doubt if "hbunyonyo" has carefully read the 1959 manifesto whose structure, political assumptions, propositions and formulations are patterned along historical materialist form of the 1848 Communist Manifesto. Our manifesto appears to derive most of its philosophical canons from the dialectics of Hegel, Marx and Engels. It talks about history, economic forces, contradictions, thesis-anti-thesis-synthesis and how historical forces and factors including economic interests and the resultant relations come to shape our social milieu including to social contradictions that ensue and how they are resolved. This revolutionary discourse by Pac founders takes its cue from socialist texts and theory. In fact Pan Africanists like BuBois, Padmore, CRL James, Nkrumah, etc. were influenced by these theories and formulated their thoughts and ideas around these. The confusion that I seem to detect is that the PAC was formed and formulated its programme at the height of the decolonisation movemement in especially Africa and Asia. Its immediate tasks were precisely African nationalist, and as such were tasks of the nationalist epoch of the 1950's and 60's.Interesting though was the party, inspite of seeking to fulfill these nationalist tasks which were the primary contradiction recognised that Africans essentially faced a system of global capitalism which in our situation was personified in the system of white domination (political oppression, economic exploitation and social degradation), it believed that by its insistence that the social order it wants to achieve must be Africanist and Socialist (not African socialist)The reason for this is that the expulsion of foreign colonial oppressors could only be consolidated through the establishment of a socialist democracy that gurantees social and economic power to the illiterate and semiliterate African masses who Sobukwe said were the key and cornerstone of our liberation struggle. Read his inaugural speech where he says were borrow (worker controlled economic system) from the communist east and (bourgeois democracy like vote, civil liberties)from the capitalist free-market west while maintaining our distinctiveness as Africans. All this becaome clear when you read Nkrumah's writings after his was deposed as Ghana's president. The PAC's New Road of the Revolution and Moshi Conference speech by Leballo and the party's path to power must be read. These were official party documents and were endorsed by Sobukwe while he was banned and confined in Kimberely. Engage and not label or lampoon other comrades because you happen to differ in your interpretation of certain issues with them. I hope the current leadership does lead in the process of talking openly about these things. Izwe Lethu! Mawande Jack

The simplest answer we are nationalist as per programme of 1959. Please do not confuse us(PAC members) with others.
