In 1968 is when the Kingdom of Swaziland became independent within the so-called commonwealth (as though there was something common amongst them). The kingdom has been a British protectorate from 1903, so we don't raise eyebrows when people of Mbabane, Manzini and elsewhere in that dusty tiny African country are the last to know about what happened in their own backyards after the British via BBC. But the same cannot be said about the mid-Atlantic SABC as far as content is concerned, that includes its too good to be true African soapies which lack verisimilitude. South Africa is not under any suzerainty, but is a sovereign state yet we are perpetually stodged English and American mannerism and expletives ad nausem. For this a gamut of people are to blame, from commissioning editors to executive producers, and script writers to directors etc. Were sports, news and weather broadcast to be expunged on weekends SABC would appear competing with BBC safe for a Pedi drama at 9pm - 9.30pm on Fridays and half an hour long programmes called "Gospel Gold," which is tinctured with Anglophilism from its Anglo-Xhosa hybridizing presenter, and "Roots" on Sundays followed by an equally bathotically Anglophonic "Asikhulume," as it is to be expected the rest follow suit "sine die" week in week out, month in and out be it SABC 1, 2 or 3. The Anglophilliac SABC has to be wary of its shortfalls. For starters by making a thorough overhaul of its mid-Antlantic programmes and attitude if it is to avoid swats from this piqued "PROUDLY AFRICAN." My advice is: "TO HELL WITH IMPERIALIST INSPIRED PROGRAMMES AND MOVIES ON SABC."
Then is the 16th of December a "Reconciliation Day Holiday" in which a vast majority of working people will have received their bonuses and will as usual obviously blew it on alcohol, clearly making this nothing less than a "Reconciliation hollow day." Again is the 24th September a "Cultural Day Holiday," leaders parade themselves in traditional garb and harp speeches about the magnificence of our cultures and their significance before hoping back into their former selves, also turning it into another cultural hollow day. This has been an annual cantata, they are so predictable they may as well play the nation tape recordings of themselves. Same with the commemoration of "Women's day," the march by women in 1956 was by women from all walks of life and diverse political persuasions not by particular doyennes of a certain organisation as we are made to believe - its pure PROPAGANDA!!! A laconic definition of propaganda is: "systematic propagation of selected information to (dis)credit a given doctrine. Also saddening is that the modern day successful African woman uses the word "Helper" euphemistically for the "Maid", she egoistically and inanely squeaks "Wathint'abafazi wathint'imbokodo! Turning a trueism trite. Talk of genteelism. ps: When Mandela said "DA is a Mickey Mouse party," Leon fired back: "That makes the ANC a Goofey party." Mandela was amused knowing that a Goofey is a big harmless dog portrayed in a cartoon by the inventor of Mickey Mouse. Nice and sublime politicking indeed neh!!!.
