Afrikanists, Indeed my Thursdays are never and will never be the same again. The venue was Van Erkom Building in Pretoria where we held workshops on Pan Afrikanism under the Institute for Ideo-policy Studies Research and Development (IIPSRnD).
The old man would passionately engage us on Afrikanism, he would insist on the difference that exists between Marxist Historical Materialism and what he termed the Afrikanist Historical Materialism and this process he called bifurcation. I vividly remember when he'd explain various philosophical views, patiently ensuring that we all understood the difference between Idealism and Materialism and Dialectics. Explaining to us the concepts of Left and Right and their origin, Thesis and Anti-Thesis and ultimately Synthesis. Challenging us to understand and critique his contribution to the Afrikanist Literature, the concept he called "National Afrikan Liberatory Nation Building Revolution" or the "NALNBR". We are hoping to collate all his writings and start publishing and distributing them. In November of this year 2013, we in the institute intend to commemorate him by organising a Public Annual Memorial Lecture in his honour. It is the institute's desire to preserve his legacy, therefore we plead with all who had an encounter with this Incorrigible Afrikanist, Non Off-Ramped, Intellectual Revolutionary, Independent Scholar, a Representative of the Afrikanist Thought to share with us positive or negative such moments they had with him. Critics of his views as well are welcome to share with us their differences. If by now you do not know who this old man is, it may mean you have never met him therefore you shall definitely encounter him posthumously in his writings, short and limited as they are, however, profound. I'm talking about Philemon Matlakana Tefu, (TF, Mgijima).
