scott, not all streaming formats will work in winamp.  there are some 
plugins that allow winamp to play real audio streams, but i've never been 
able to make it work.  you may have to use real audio, media player and 
winamp as the creaters of the stations suggest.  that's why each station 
listing tells you what player to use.
there are also some stations that use their own embedded player, and you 
just have to accept what the creaters of that station have chosen.  most of 
the bbc uses embedded players, but they sometimes gove other choices.  i 
play bbc 4 through my real player.
