The phrase "no loss of quality" is deceiving. When MP3 came out, 128-bit
was touted as "CD-quality". Now, while it is certainly acceptable for
many, no one is saying that it is CD-quality any more. Audio compression
will, I believe, always result in some quality loss: it may be
indiscernible, but there is loss just the same. 128-bit used to be "no
quality loss". Now anyone with an ear for sound agrees that there is, of
course, quality loss.
