Tim,

What I did was to go to radioshack and buy a small amplifier for around $20 I think.

It gave me a tremendous amount of gain, far more than I actually needed, so just set
the volume control on it at a low level. The amp is powered by a 9-volt
battery or you could get an AC adaptor.

The other alternative would be to get a power mic which is a mic with a small
amplifier built into the base and is also powered by a battery. Since I already
had a working mic, I opted for the small amp.

The amp also works quite nicely as a small audio amplifier as it has an internal
speaker which is, of course, muted when you plug a cable into the output
and run it to your computer.

Maybe someone can answer this. I have this Dell computer with a SBLive sound card.
Now, on the normal SBLive driver there is a check box for a 20 DB
boost in the record microphone volume which worked out great with the non-powered
mics, but this dell driver doesn't have the check box. Can I get a mic
that would allow me to boost the gain since I can't do it through the sound card
driver?
