Navigation of menus is shotty, but the radio is usable to some extent, and
the recording feature is very usable. As for installing the firmware, it is
totally accessible, you install the software, download and unzip the
firmware file, go to tools upgrade firmware, select the firmware file from
the brows dialog and hit ok, when your computer beeps at you it means the
player has shut off it's power, and the upgrade is done. The one bad thing
about installing the firmware is that on my 128 meg player before the
upgrade I had 124m of storage space now I only have 110 megs. If you are
good with jaws, the default software is usable though, but if you aren't
good with a jaws cursor you should use the firmware that turns it into a
hard drive.

Hi.
How accessible is installing the firmware, if I may ask, and if you
have a unit? Does the new firmware have to be installed on HD based units as
well?
Also, how accessible is navigation and the setting of menus? The
only review I've seen is that of the HD units from Iriver.

Please make informed comments. The ifp players have firmware just released
that allows them ot act like an external hard drive, so someone will have to
install that firmware, and then it's like a USB hard drive.

forget the Iriver memory based players, they use a propriatary software to
transfer file and you can not download file back from the player to the pc
piece of crap.

I think their ht players are far better.
