Hi all, just got back on the list, and need to know what I'm doing
wrong, and here's the problem, I started streaming in January, but
every time I would try to use line recording, even though it would show
up in the title bar, I couldn't get my voice out over the air, and I
found this out, because instead of 1 large file, I had several smaller
files, so, one night, something happened with winamp 5.01, so, I went
back to winamp 2.92, which I think is a stable version, but recently
tried streaming again, with the shoutcast server, and I can connect,
but once again, I couldn't get my voice to go out over the air with the
line recording plugin, so somebody suggested I check the advanced
controls in the shoutcast server, with the what you hear option in the
recording controls of the windows volume with my sound blaster live
value 3.1 card, and still, I can't get my voice out over the air, and I
don't know why. As far as I can tell, with window-eyes 4.5 sp3, in the
play options of the volume control, everything is at 0, except the mike
which is at 112 of 255, but the what you hear volume is at zero, which
means it's as loud as it will go, so what am I doing incorrectly? What
I wanted originally to do is to have the audience hear the tight
segways with the sqr cross fader, of which I'm using version 1.65,
because, when I played with version 1.75, I found it faded after every
track, because of the fade curve option, which I didn't like, because I
want it to go right in to the next song, if asong has a cold ending,
such as night life, I want it to go right in to a song like walkin the
dog by rufus thomas, and with version 1.75 of the cross fader, it would
even fade out Rusty Draper, so I went back to version 1.65, but last
night, I conducted tests, and still, even with the what you hear option
checked, I was hearing the tight segways, but the audience was just
hearing the fades, and I had the advanced controls checked in the
shoutcast plugin, so, what am I doing wrong, or, am I not supposed to
choose the audio stocker with shoutcast muxer plugin, or what ever
that's called, or what? If I just selected the shoutcast plugin, I
could use the line recording, and it would show up, and my voice would
go out over the air, but not if I want the audience to hear the tight
segways between songs, and also, practice announcing songs. Maybe my
machine's too slow, but I'm using windows 98 se, with window-eyes 4.5
sp3, 192 megs of ram, a 400 megs processor, winamp 2.92, the shoutcast
plugin version 1.80, and the sqr cross fader, version 1.65. Could
somebody tell me what I might be doing wrong, because, it's my
understanding that when you use what you hear, and the advanced
controls in winamp, you don't need to have the shoutcast plugin be the
second in command, because what you hear, the audience hears, but that
box is checked, and still, my voice won't go out over the air, and I
don't hear the segways in the broken file parts that have been
recorded. Any assistance would greatly be appreciated in this matter.

Marty
