Hi David.

There are many multi-channel cards available today.  I'd recommend
SoundBlaster from Creative; in particular, the Audigy or Audigy 2.  It's
also possible to get an external sound card that you can connect via USB.  A
number of listers are using the SoundBlaster Extigy which is such a card.

There are more cards available and it's a matter of preference as to which
you would rate highest so I'll leave the TurtleBeach and MAudio users to
chip in.

Can't help with midi input though.  Not my scene.
