Just play around with it for a while and you should be able to receive a signal. When I first got my radio; I lived in an apartment with no windows only a skylight and I first was afraid to think that I had to put the antenna high up in the skylight in order to receive the signal. However, to my delight, I was able to receive the signal with out a problem even though it was some distance from the skylight.
