Mimi, Don't know whether you are familiar with Blueman Group, they are basically three guys who have done unusual things with percussion, I guess it would be jazz but it kind of crosses over genres. My son is a drummer and has kind of turned me onto them. Anyway, I wonder whether either service plays them. Amazing how this topic has stayed alive this long, isn't it?
